The standard
is what counts.
What counts is the standard: UL 1598 for luminaires, UL 844 for hazardous locations. Who tested it —UL or Intertek— is secondary: both are NRTLs and both test against the same standard. Here is the full catalog, series by series, no fine print.

Two UL files and five ETL listings, verifiable today
All under Jungo Industries SAPI de CV. Copy them and look them up yourself in the public UL and Intertek directories — you do not need to ask us.

UL, ETL and NOM: what each one is and which one you will be asked for
Confusing these three is the number-one reason a project submittal gets sent back. Here is the short version.
UL
Nationally recognized testing laboratory in the United States. It tests against the standard and assigns a public file number. Our files: E497790 (surface-mounted) and E505095 (recessed), both under UL 1598.
- UL 1598 — general product standard
- UL 844 — hazardous locations (HazLoc)
- UL 1598A — marine vessels, not HazLoc
ETL
It is the mark Intertek certifies under, and Intertek is also an NRTL. Same standard, same OSHA recognition. It does not publish a file number: verification is by company and model in its directory. cETL is the Canadian variant.
- Same standard, same OSHA recognition
- cETL = the Canadian variant
- Verified by company and model, not by file
NOM
It is neither optional nor “the Mexican equivalent of UL”. It is a legal requirement to sell in Mexico and the first thing reviewed in public tenders and government work.
- NOM-003-SCFI — electrical safety
- NOM-031-ENER — LED energy efficiency
- Both apply to our entire catalog
“UL is worth more than ETL” is false.
Both are NRTLs and both test against the same standard: UL 1598. That is why the column that matters in our table is the standard, not the lab. If a supplier tells you one is worth more than the other, either they do not know or they are selling you something. What does matter is that the exact model you are buying is covered.
Which certification you will be asked for
Find your case and you will know exactly what documentation to prepare before anyone asks for it.
Industrial plant, distribution center or standard commercial building
- UL 1598 or equivalent ETL
- NOM-003-SCFI
- NOM-031-ENER
- IES photometric file
Hazardous location — mining, oil & gas, chemical, fuel station canopy
- UL-844 (ETL) y C22.2 No. 137 (cETL)
- Class I Div 2, Groups A, B, C, D
- Class II Div 1 (E,F,G) and Div 2 (F,G); Class III
- T3 code · from -40 °C to 55 °C depending on model
Public tender, government project or municipal street lighting
- Current NOM-003-SCFI
- Current NOM-031-ENER
- Certificate issued to the manufacturer
- Local content letter
Certification by series
Full catalog, in the same order as the site menu, with IP/IK ratings taken from each datasheet. The column that matters is the standard. Where UL certified, we give you the file number; where Intertek certified it shows as ETL — its directory does not publish file numbers, so verification is by company and model.

Three steps so you never end up with an uncertified product
Use it with us and with any supplier. If someone cannot get you past step 1, the conversation ends there.
Ask about the standard
Do not ask “is it UL?”. Ask which standard it is certified against: UL 1598 for general luminaires, UL 844 for hazardous locations. Then ask for the file number (UL) or the name it is listed under (ETL).
Look it up in the directory
UL is verified in Product iQ by file number. Intertek is verified in its Directory of Listed Products by company name or model — there is no file number there. Both are public and free.
Confirm that your model is listed
This is the step almost nobody takes. A file can be active and still not cover the exact model you are being quoted. Verify the model, not the brand.
What we get asked most
Why are some series UL and others ETL?
Because they are different laboratories certifying against the same standard. Both are OSHA-recognized NRTLs. Where it says UL 1598, it meets UL 1598 — no matter which of the two tested it.
Are all Jungo luminaires certified?
No. It applies by series and by model, not by brand. Check the table or ask us for the documentation of the specific series you are quoting.
Does IP66 replace a HazLoc certification?
No. IP measures dust and water ingress. HazLoc certifies that the luminaire cannot start an ignition in a potentially explosive atmosphere. They are different tests and one does not replace the other.
Does the smart version change the certification?
The Jungo Connect version is certified the same as the standard version under its corresponding file. If your submittal needs the detail of the control module, we send it separately.
Can you issue the certificate in the name of my project?
The certificate is always issued to the manufacturer — that is how it works. What we do give you is a compliance letter referenced to your project and to the models quoted.
How long does it take to send me the documentation?
The same business day. Files, NOM certificates, IES files and the datasheet in a single email.
Do you manufacture in Mexico or import?
We manufacture in Monterrey. That is why the NOM certificates are in our name as the manufacturer and not in the name of an importer — which saves you steps in public tenders.
Do you need the file for a specific series for your submittal?
Tell us which series and for which project. We will send you the file, the NOM certificates and the IES file the same business day.
